The parent company of a Canadian charter bus and a commercial truck agreed to settle a lawsuit for $36 million for a 2005 truck accident in New York, according to the Washington Post. Four died and 19 injured in the collision. The bus was carrying a youth hockey team from Canada on Interstate 30 near Rochester when it collided with a semi truck on the side of the highway. Richard Edwards, 46, coach of the women’s hockey team, and his 13-year-old son Brian died at the scene. Two others died and 19 sustained injuries ranging from traumatic brain injuries and broken bones to post-traumatic stress disorder. A truck accident near the Lincoln Tunnel on the New York-New Jersey border caused major traffic delays on December 14, according to CBS News. A semi truck overturned on the Helix during morning commute hours. The crash happened at about 5 a.m. and it took until almost 8 a.m. to get the truck moved off the highway. Traffic was diverted through Weehawken, and buses were diverted to Secaucus Junction. Haz mat responders were called in to clean up the oil that spilled from the accident. One minor injury was reported. The victim’s name was not released and they were reportedly transported to Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. The accident is still under investigation. A driver of an armored truck died in a truck accident in New Jersey on the evening of December 7, according to the Wall Street Journal. The truck overturned after hitting a guardrail on the New Jersey Turnpike near the Garden State Parkway exit, according to New Jersey State Trooper Christopher Kay. The driver, 45-year-old Kamrul Bhuiyan of Jamaica Queens, NY died at the scene. Another guard who was in the truck at the time—John Davidson, 45—was pulled out of the wreckage and rushed to Robert Wood University Hospital in New Brunswick. His injuries are not life threatening. Police secured the contents of the armored truck. “We are cooperating with authorities investigating the accident,” said Joe Gavaghan, Garda director of corporate communications.
